MECANO

Imagine living on $2 a day! This father does…He has five children. His job is to fix old bicycles. On a good day he can fix 5 bicycles and make $2. But some days, he doesn’t have enough to feed his family. They call him Mécano (short for mécanicien in French) which means mechanic. It is impossible for him to get school supplies for his children.

According to many reports, the Democratic Republic of Congo is one of the countries with the largest number of out-of-school children: it is estimated that 3.5 million children of primary age are not in school mainly because of school fees.

Today, Mécano and his family are celebrating…An anonymous donor offered his only two daughters free tuitions through The Toussaint Foundation. The tuitions will cover their school tuitions for an entire year! They both will start school September 5th, 2017! Congratulations!!
